Glen Prosen in County Angus, is quiet and very picturesque. In this painting I try to evoke the feeling of the first day of warm sunshine after a long and dismal Winter. The remnant snow and glare on the foreground stream particularly attracted me to this scene.
One of the advantages of being a landscape painter based in Scotland is that the scenery changes so abruptly; this landscape is markedly Highland in character and yet it is but a few minutes drive from the flatter, arable Vale of Strathmore.
