This 2015 oil painting features the kind of complex foreground surface which I really enjoy painting. The most difficult thing about depicting a bed of pebbles like this is staying focused enough to capture the randomness of things; each stone is unique in it size and shape and this has to be conveyed. I hope that the viewer is able to hear the sound of the water and smell the beautiful warm breeze. It is an innocent, uncomplicated homage to the pleasure of being in the Glens of Angus of a Summer`s afternoon. The prominent hill in the distance is Mount Blair.
