I`ve always loved Glen Clova and Glen Doll. My great Grandfather was a shepherd at Aucharn and I`ve relatives buried at Piper`s Hillock near Dykehead. My Father, a proud Scot even though he was born in Bristol, spoke like a Londoner and first came to Scotland as a schoolboy evacuee during The Blitz- he also loved Glen Clova. This scene is looking south down the River South Esk, a Winter`s morning. Set off in a dark frame this painting does capture the glare of the low sun.
