The best views in Kate`s Wood, Kirriemuir are for me, right at the start of the paths at the entrance to the wood. I`ve painted these trees before - from a different angle and both later and earlier in the year as thus depicted. Such a scene would be unremarkable were it not for the intense sunlight illuminating the thin covering of early winter snow with its blueish shadows, and the underlying russet leaves of autumn.
This is such a nice painting; one of those rare compositions which are "easy" to paint.
