I added in the clouds partially obscuring Ben Lawers in this rendition. I`ve found that using this device in mountain paintings, enhances the sense of scale of the landscape.
I recall that on this day it was insufferably hot and I found that Lochan nan Cat was a rough and enclosed place teeming with biting insects! A beautiful place nonetheless.
This scene is now subject to "up-scaling" in a subsequent painting which I am working on in my studio at Glamis Gallery in Glamis Village, Angus. Working on a much bigger scale brings it's own challenges but the overall effect should be well worth the effort.
