This painting shows the Lui Water, a rocky tributary of the Dee just a mile or two from the famous beauty spot The Linn o' Dee. I was there in the heatwave of July 2022 when the hot, dry conditions were a joy to experience. The air was thick with the Summer heat and teeming with giant dragonfly and other winged creatures.
Here with the peat-tinged water of the Lui at a low ebb, some interesting river bed architecture is revealed making for an interesting composition.
