45x33cm. Oil on board. £795. I`ve always thought that Dunnichen near Forfar is an attractively situated hamlet. Last Autumn, I received a commission to paint the church there. I knew exactly the spot to head for.
This painting started life as the preparatory sketch for the much larger commissioned piece. However, I`ve worked on it on and off to such an extent that it now has the character of a finished work in it`s own right.
I made four or five trips out to the scene before I could get the right lighting - I hope the viewer gets the sense of a mellow, warm afternoon in early Autumn.
